From HOT to SHOT

-  Jay-Z
This artist went from one of the illest LPs to one of the weakest tapes dropped.
"Reasonable Doubt" contained such classics as "Dead Presidents", "Brooklyn's
Finest" featuring B.I.G., and "D'Evils."  Jay-Z went from "Too much west-coast
dick-lickin'..." on "22 Two's" to cuts with Too Short on "Vol. I."  Vol. I still contained
tracks such as "Rap Game/Crack Game" and "Imaginary Player" where Jay-Z
spit some real rhymes.  The Nas sample was off the meter.  However, "Vol. I" was
significantly weaker than "Reasonable Doubt."  Jay-Hova's newest LP, "Vol. II"
was ass, compared to any hot East-Coast artist.  Memphis Bleek holds in down on
the opening joint, but except for the club-bangin' "Hard Knock Life," the album
contains only snippets of the classic Jay-Z.  Callabo's with Jermaine Dupri only
helped solidify this strictly HIPhop DJ's opinion that Jay-Z is gone to the planet of Fake.

-  Noreaga
Noreaga dropped one of the most thugged out albums ever released with
Capone N' Noreaga's, "The War Report."  This album should've received 5mics as well
as the aforementioned "Reasonable Doubt."  Capone N' Noreaga were probably
first noticed on the answer-cut, "L.A.,L.A." featuring Mobb Deep, C.N.N. and
Tragedy Khadafi.  "L.A., L.A." proved that New York artists not only had the
heart, but the lyrical firepower to answer and shoot holes in the elementary rhymes
of Snoops, "New York, New York."  "The War Report" also showcased some of
today's illest emcees such as:  Tragedy Khadafi, Troy the Outlaw, Iman Thug, Maze,
                        and Musolini.
However, since Capone has been locked prior to the release of "The War Report"
(he was released back on 2/11/99), Noreaga decided to drop a solo LP entitled,
"N.O.R.E."  This album had several C.N.N. style tracks such as "Da Story" and Nas
contributes on "Body in the Trunk."  However, without Tragedy scripting Noreaga,
he true lyric skills show, and it is often repetitive and at times Noreaga is just spittin'
nonsense.  More recently, a member of Noreaga's mafi bucked shots at Ty Nitty, which
has lead to the current beef between Tragedy and Noreaga.  Another flaw in Noreaga
new (weak) image is that in the video shoot for "N.O.R.E.," Noreaga shows Cormega
in the video.  Where is 'Mega on the tape?  Cormega is one of the top emcees in this
game right now, and all Noreaga does is show his grill in the video a few times.  He
probably didn't want to get outshined on his own album.  More recent such as the
"Pushin' Weight" (rmx) have deemed Noreaga the victim of the spotlight once again.
Noreaga is the newest citizen of Planet Fake.
